ClassDojo

Image
ClassDojo is a software that can be used by both teachers and school administrations. It allows teachers to keep track of students' success, homework performances and classroom activities. It is free and can be used easily from both computers and mobile devices. It is also very useful that it has a messaging interface for teachers and parents. The design of the platform is another advantage as it is attractive for students with its fun virtual monsters. Overall, it is a really helpful platform to use specially in virtual classrooms. Here is an example class i created on ClassDojo

Edpuzzle Review

Image
Ed-puzzle is a website for creating educational videos. Other than creating our own videos, the platform enables us to use countless content on YouTube and edit them which makes the website quite useful. What I find the most beneficial is that teachers can add questions to some parts of the videos. So when a video is assigned to students, they need to listen carefully and answer the questions. I believe it is a great and fun way of assigning homework. Here is a YouTube video I edited on Edpuzzle. I cropped the video and added a question. This video can be used in a classroom for an introduction lesson to Philosophy or can be assigned to students before an introduction course.

Emaze Review

Image
Emaze is another presentation platform. The main page of the website might seem a little complex but it is actually a user-friendly website with explanations. Once you click on "Create" button, you will see tens of ready for use templates. The categories of templates makes it easier to choose one according to your purpose. However the website is not all free. To access all services you need to upgrade your account. Still, without an upgrade the website is quite useful and it is a great alternative to PowerPoint. Here is an example presentation:

Prezi Review

Image
Prezi is a perfect platform to create interesting presentations. It is easy to use and has lots of ready templates that you can use. It can be used for various purposes including education. But as you will notice in my example video bellow,  resizing the images you put on your presentation is not possible. Other than this, I really liked the platform. Here is an example presentation i prepared by Prezi:

MindMeister Review

Image
Mind Meister is a platform for making mind maps. There are different kinds of templates ready for use in the website. Its wide range of options such as coloring, adding images and videos make this platform highly practical. Here is an example mind map I made on foreign language education.

Seasaw is a great app to assign homework to students .  There are hundreds of ready material which makes teachers' job easier. QuiverVision Review

Image
Quiver Vision is a fascinating app specially for young learners. It can definitely turn classroom environment into a magical place! It basically uses augmented reality to place virtual content to real world. This app can be used for different purposes at classrooms as it attracts students attention and make the learning experience more interesting. There are some papers to print on the website. Students can paint the drawings on these papers then see their paintings alive by using the QR code or have masks with them and do role-playing activities. There are also virtual reality versions of some environments such as ocean.Teachers can adapt this app to almost every  subject. The website contains lots of explanatory videos and detailed information about their products. Here is the link to the website: https://quivervision.com/

Padlet Review

Image
Padlet can be defined as a paper screen. But imagine everybody is able to contribute to that piece of paper at the same time. Yes, that's Padlet. It is a versatile platform that can be used for various purposes. Students can share their ideas with each other easily, they can group some elements they learn in the class or ask questions to each other freely. This app is specially helpful for online classroom environments as it speeds up the communication process. Here is a screenshot of a Padlet wall I created for an English lesson as warm-up activity:             shorturl.at/nHJM5 Here, we asked our students to respond our question as an opening activity. With Padled, we did this brain-storming in a fast and fun way. Also the participation rate was higher with such apps as students feel more comfortable while writing than speaking.

Kahoot Review

Image
Kahoot is a well-known learning platform which provides learners and of course teachers a fun experience with quizzes by turning them into games. Unlike the traditional boring way of taking quizzes, Kahoot allows students to enjoy their learning process with its exciting musics and competitive game based questions. It has been widely used at schools already! What makes Kahoot that popular is its being free and easy to use for both teachers and students. Creating a quiz only takes couple of minutes and there are just few steps with very clear instructions. After creating a quiz, teacher shares the code with students. Then students go to Kahoot  and write the code. Thats it. I've used this platform in my volunteer teachings and I'm sure in the future I'll continue to use it in my classrooms. Here is an example Kahoot game: https://create.kahoot.it/share/quiz-show/319cb856-6e59-4cad-9d2a-cd6666a33071
